husky sculptures that will be on exhibit
throughout the state.
August 25, 2006 - If you’ve visited the Ridgefield Bank office at
150 Danbury Road in Ridgefield the past few weeks, it’s hard to miss
the colorful four foot fiberglass husky on display at the back
entrance of the bank. The Connecticut Mountain Dog, named “Meadow
Mutt” by its creator, Victor DeMasi, is one of 125 husky sculptures
that will be featured statewide in the UConn Husky Trail Program.
The largest public exhibit to ever come to the state, The UConn
Husky Trail is presented by the University of Connecticut’s Alumni
Association as part of the university’s 125th anniversary
celebration.
Each of the
sculptures is sponsored by an individual, business, or organization
and has been uniquely decorated by a variety of different artists
from around the country. “Meadow Mutt” celebrates the two passions
of Mr. DeMasi, Natural History and Painting, and sports a selection
of flowers and butterflies, including the prominent Monarch which is
the namesake of Mr. DeMasi’s company, Monarch Painting, in Redding.
When the sculptures
are auctioned off next May, the proceeds will go to the university’s
Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. To find out more about the
UConn Husky Trail or to bid on a husky, visit
